Rapala Rippin' Spin – Metal Spintail for Perch, Zander and Asp
The Rapala Rippin' Spin takes the Rippin profile you already know from the Rippin Rap and casts it in metal, with a spinner blade hanging off the tail. It is small, heavy and it flies, so you can cover water that a light softbait never reaches. On every turn of the handle the blade throws flash and vibration, and that is what pulls a perch off the bottom in cold, clear water when nothing subtle is working.
The body is compact metal with the premium Rapala finish, and the blade sits on a swivel at the tail so it keeps spinning even as the lure drops. That matters more than it sounds: most bites on a spintail come on the fall, and a blade that stalls the moment you stop winding gives the fish nothing to react to. A single hook sits under the belly, which keeps hook-ups clean and unhooking quick, and it snags a lot less than a treble when you are fishing hard on the bottom.
The 9 g at 3 cm is the perch size, fished on light gear over deeper schools and along harbour walls. The 16 g at 4 cm casts further and gets down faster, which makes it the one for windy days, running water and the bigger zander and asp.
